System overview
One pump, two circuits
The right side of the heart sends oxygen-poor blood to the lungs through the pulmonary circuit. The left side receives oxygen-rich blood and drives it through the systemic circuit to the rest of the body.
4chambers inside the heart
2linked circulatory circuits
24/7continuous rhythmic activity
Follow the flow
Blood returns through veins, moves through the atria and ventricles, and leaves through arteries. Valves keep this movement directional while the myocardium generates the pressure required for circulation.
