Right ankle & foot

Explore ankle and foot bones in 3D, identify the talus and heel, and follow the forefoot toward the toes.

Atlas notePartial educational model, not a complete dissection. Original whole meshes are retained; close-ups may leave long bones outside the frame. Cartilage, separate ligaments, nerves and vessels are absent. Anatomical review pending.

From the ankle to the toes

The ankle connection

The talus meets the distal tibia and fibula at the ankle. Beneath it sits the calcaneus, which forms the heel.

Three groups of foot bones

The principal foot skeleton has seven tarsals, five metatarsals and fourteen phalanges. The big toe has two phalanges; each other toe has three.

  1. Locate the talus

Highlight the talus with the neighboring bones visible. Rotate the assembly to inspect the ankle from the side.

    Open Right talus →
  2. Inspect the heel

Isolate the calcaneus and examine its shape, then use Show context to restore the foot.

    Open Right calcaneus →
  3. Follow the forefoot

Highlight the first metatarsal while keeping the other bones visible. Trace the remaining bones toward the big toe.
