Explore the trunk.

Explore the thoracic and lumbar spine, sacrum, ribs and sternum alongside hip bones, selected muscles and 14 indexed costal cartilages. Select a structure to inspect its original 3D geometry.

Atlas notePartial coverage: 47 bone meshes, 14 costal cartilages and 25 muscle meshes. Cervical vertebrae, coccyx, intervertebral discs, organs and other trunk muscles are absent.

Start with an available region.

Available regional study

Chest

All 24 ribs, three sternum parts, thoracic vertebrae, 14 indexed costal cartilages, six pectoralis major parts, both pectoralis minor and serratus anterior muscles, and the diaphragm. The lower costal margin is incomplete; intercostal muscles and organs are not loaded.

Abdomen

Both rectus abdominis and transversus abdominis muscles with 26 bones and six costal cartilages. External and internal obliques are temporarily excluded pending refinement. No transparency or experimental cuts. Fascia, linea alba and organs are not loaded. Whole-body registration and anatomical review pending.

Back

Both rhomboid pairs and six trapezius portions with thoracic and lumbar vertebrae and sacrum. Use Back to inspect the posterior surfaces. Other back muscles, cervical vertebrae, coccyx, discs, ligaments and spinal cord are not loaded; scapulae are available in the human overview.

Pelvic region

Both hip bones and sacrum only. Coccyx, joint soft tissues, pelvic-floor muscles and pelvic organs are not loaded.

Browse by region without duplicating structures. Posterior abdominal wall connects to the abdomen; psoas major also remains accessible through the hip studies.

Thoracic cage · read the model

The ribs attach posteriorly to thoracic vertebrae. The sternum has a manubrium, body and xiphoid process. Costal cartilages normally connect much of the anterior cage; 14 indexed cartilage surfaces are available here. Separate lower-cartilage coverage is unconfirmed, so this remains a partial assembly.

Use Front to compare the two sides, Back for the vertebral relationships, and Isolate for a single surface. This viewer does not simulate breathing.

Spine · from T1 to the sacrum

T1–T12 name the thoracic sequence; L1–L5 name the lumbar sequence. The sacrum is a fused bone below the lumbar region. A complete vertebral column also includes the cervical region and coccyx, which are outside this first trunk assembly.

Select one level in the model search, then restore context to see its neighbors. Discs, ligaments and the spinal cord are not loaded; empty spaces are not reconstructed soft tissues.
