Left pectoralis minor

Pectoralis minor is a deeper chest muscle beneath pectoralis major. It connects the rib cage to the scapula, rather than inserting on the humerus.

From ribs to scapula

Its usual attachments run from ribs 3–5 to the scapula's coracoid process.

These landmarks describe the anatomy; the surface does not contain labeled attachment footprints. The chest subset does not duplicate the scapula: open the human overview to compare it in the same source coordinates.

Function and nerve supply

It draws the scapula forward and downward. Its principal nerve supply is the medial pectoral nerve.

This is a static anatomy study. Nerves are described in the text but are not represented by an additional nerve layer or a simulated contraction.

Find the surface in context

Pectoralis major may hide much of this surface in the combined scene. Find pectoralis minor in the structure search, select it, then use Fade others or Isolate.

Compare the smaller deep surface with the broad sternocostal portion of pectoralis major. Their names do not mean they share the same insertion.

The structure name above the viewer links to this dedicated page. Bones, Muscles and Cartilage remain independently selectable; isolating this muscle removes the surrounding context temporarily.

Read the model's limits

This left-side object retains its original BodyParts3D vertices and faces. The opposite side has its own source identifier; Anatomio has not generated a mirrored substitute.

The loaded thoracic wall remains incomplete. Intercostal muscles, fascia, vessels and thoracic organs are not included, and the lower costal-cartilage margin is incomplete. Empty areas should not be read as normal anatomical openings.

About this model

BodyParts3D identifies this surface as left pectoralis minor: FMA13376 / FJ1456M. Its original coordinates and topology are preserved. Anatomical sides refer to the body, not the screen.

The trunk assembly includes thoracic and lumbar vertebrae, sacrum, ribs, sternum parts, hip bones, selected muscles and 14 indexed costal cartilages. Discs, cervical vertebrae, coccyx, organs and other trunk muscles are not loaded.
