Adductor pollicis · oblique head

Inspect the oblique head of the right adductor pollicis as a separate 3D source mesh. Compare it with the other head and nearby hand bones using the existing selection and layer controls.

See around, not just through.

The 3D subset keeps the source positions of 44 separate structures. Rotate the model, hide a layer, or isolate a structure to inspect its shape.

Scope / Honest limits

Shape is not photorealism.

This is a reduced-resolution model, not a complete dissection. Skin, vessels, nerves and most neighboring muscles are omitted. Colors and shading are illustrative; there are no realistic muscle-fiber textures. Anatomical review is still required.

One muscle head

Two heads, one muscle

Adductor pollicis lies in the deep adductor-interosseous compartment. Its oblique and transverse heads are parts of one muscle, not two independent muscles.

The source index identifies this object as the oblique head on the right. Both heads are separately selectable in this study, unlike the grouped interosseous and lumbrical source sets.

Attachment overview

The oblique head begins at the capitate and the bases of the second and third metacarpals. Its distal attachment is at the base of the thumb proximal phalanx.

The loaded bones provide orientation, but their attachment areas are not annotated. Tendon boundaries and fibers cannot be selected independently.

Thumb adduction

Adductor pollicis brings the thumb toward the hand. This action differs from opposition.

Rotation in this viewer moves the camera, not a joint. The two meshes remain in their original pose; the model does not demonstrate contraction or measure movement.

Nerve connection

The deep branch of the ulnar nerve supplies adductor pollicis.

Nerves and vessels are not displayed. Selecting one head does not reveal a separate nerve branch, and the visual mesh is not a clinical nerve map.

  1. Inspect one head. Start with the isolated structure. Rotate it and use Reset to restore the initial camera framing.
  2. Compare with the hand bones. Compare this head with the capitate and metacarpal bases. Restore context to follow the selected source surface toward the thumb; the bone landmarks themselves are not separately selectable.
  3. Switch to the other head. Open the related structure below, or return to the hand overview. Each head has its own selected state and stable page address. Compare both adductor heads →

The hand close-up includes three thenar parts, three hypothenar muscles, two interosseous group meshes, one lumbrical group mesh, two adductor pollicis heads and six forearm muscle–tendon models, but not the other intrinsic hand muscles or complete soft tissues, accessory bones or a joint-motion simulation.
