Position in the abdominal wall
Rectus abdominis is paired at the front midline, enclosed by rectus sheaths; tendinous intersections create its segmented appearance.

What is selectable
This page opens one named source object. Its surface may contain muscle and aponeurotic extensions; no guessed boundaries have been cut and no individual fiber bundles are selectable.
The rendered mesh is not a medical scan or a contraction simulation. Color identifies the selection, not a histological tissue boundary.

Inspect a covered structure
Start with Isolate to inspect the whole surface. Show context restores the included neighbors; Fade others makes those surfaces translucent while preserving their positions. Search can select a muscle even when an overlying surface prevents a direct click.
Transparency is a visualization aid. It does not establish correct contact between layers or replace specialist anatomical review.

Regional context and limits
The regional study contains eight abdominal muscle objects, 26 bones and six costal cartilages from one shared source coordinate system. Fascia, linea alba, diaphragm, psoas and organs are not included in this bundle.
This regional geometry is not registered to the atlas whole-body model. Existing bone and external-oblique detail links retain their canonical pages, which can use a different documented geometry variant.

Explore left rectus abdominis in 3D
- Inspect alone. Use the initial isolated view and rotate around the source surface.
- Restore context. Use Show context, then Fade others to reveal covered surfaces without moving them.
- Compare the pair. Open the opposite-side page or select it in the regional search. Abdomen →
Z-Anatomy provides this left-sided surface model, not every anatomical variant. Colors distinguish structures; they are not tissue textures.
One source object is selected per side. Internal fibers, tendon subdivisions and attachment footprints are not separately selectable.
Source-authored reflected left geometry is retained; it is not an independently acquired left-side specimen. No clinical symmetry measurements should be inferred.
Anatomical review and integration into the whole-body geometry remain pending.
A section tool is not available for this structure. The surface model does not reveal internal tissue architecture or represent a medical scan.
Sources and editorial status
This guide uses independently written explanations with links to the evidence behind them. Source checking and specialist anatomical review are separate steps; the latter is still pending.
