Right rhomboid major

Rhomboid major is the larger of the two rhomboid muscles. Follow its original surface between the upper thoracic spine and the medial edge of the scapula.

Spine and scapula landmarks

Its spinal attachment is associated with the spinous processes of T2–T5. On the scapula, it reaches the medial border below the root of the scapular spine.

These are anatomical orientation points, not labeled attachment footprints on this surface. The scapula retains its upper-limb page; use the human overview to compare it with this muscle in shared source coordinates.

Scapular action and nerve supply

The rhomboids draw the scapula toward the spine and assist its downward rotation. Their innervation is through the dorsal scapular nerve.

This viewer shows a static source position. It does not calculate scapular motion, muscle force or nerve paths; the text is an anatomical guide, not a movement simulation.

Compare the rhomboid pair

Compare its broader surface with rhomboid minor above it. Major and minor are separate named muscles, not two newly cut pieces of the same source mesh.

Choose Back or Oblique to inspect the posterior aspect. Search for rhomboid to find all four side-specific objects, then use Isolate or Fade others. Side labels refer to the person modeled, not the screen.

What this study includes

Each muscle on each side has its own indexed BodyParts3D object. The original vertices and faces are retained; Anatomio has not made a mirrored substitute or divided a larger surface.

The back region contains these four muscle meshes, thoracic and lumbar vertebrae and the sacrum. Scapulae are visible in the human overview, not this subset. Other back muscles, cervical vertebrae, fascia, discs, nerves and vessels are not represented here.
